Day 60: ‘What the World Book Day?!!’

I WOULD like to declare a state of emergency!

I have just four days to put together yet another fancy dress outfit for nursery! This time the apparent must-celebrate event is ‘World Book Day’ - before I even consider how I’m going to put together this creation, I need a character.

But where do I go with this? Should it be a book character that Erin likes? Because to be honest she’s 18 months old, and as long as a book has flaps, something to pull, push, a noise button or bright colours, she’s happy.

Or, do I just opt for one of my favourite book characters? Will she rock an Elizabeth Bennett, Harry Potter or Bridget Jones?

Of course there is just the option of fitting a book character to an outfit that’s easy to make. I could go for Charlie and Lola, which means she would need to be dressed as a five year old girl, or I could go for Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary and send her in a Christmas jumper.

Again that little nagging mum-voice just kicks in and says, “NO, YOU MUST TRY HARDER!” Well damn you mum-voice, now I’m stuck with four days to create something to beat the last minute bunny, slap dash witch and Sully from Monsters Inc..crikey, this is going to take some thought.

I’m hoping, nay praying, that I’m not the only one that has to consider this on Thursday, and that some marvellously simple suggestions are going to be made before I go and purchase a load of multi-coloured fabric and turn her into the Hungry Caterpillar!
