Day 4: ‘Bidding farewell to Noel’

There are few events in the year I dread. But I have to say today is one of them. No it’s not
The decs are gone!
a dentist appointment or sales shopping expedition..today the Christmas decorations are coming down.

I know for some decorating the house for Christmas is a bit of a drag and something they feel they have to do. As an open-minded woman, I appreciate many different cultures and traditions, so couldn’t possibly comment.

However. I’m afraid my approach to the festive period is a little bit more enthusiastic! So much so, I have even been known to bring out the Scrooge in those who had never before considered using the ‘Bah Humbug’ term.

Thankfully I married a man who shares my passion for Christmas. In fact you could call us the Griswalds as he heads out at the end of November armed with thousands of fairy lights to deck not just the halls, but the kitchen beams, outside walls, door, fence, bushes, hedge and garage.

This year we had three trees, two artificial ones and a real one, who we name Noel every year (I say ‘we’, I think the hubby may argue that one as just ‘I’).

And I don’t want to open up this debate, but there is TINSEL!! Yes, I said it, we are a tinsel family..and lots of it too!

You can only imagine what level of disappointment comes with taking the decorations down. I will spend the next few days wondering how the house ever looked decorated without the trees, lights, colour and randomly placed reindeers and Santas.

But, as I said on Day 1, I will always find the positives in every day, and here it is…it’s only 330 sleeps till we get to do it all over again!
